Acid-Folk!

Early Morning Hush- UK Acid-Folk Compilation 1969-1976

Released this year, this is the follow up compilation to "Gather In The Mushrooms" an album I haven't yet heard, but hope to hear soon, if it's as good as this! This really is an incredible album, that if doesn't capture you after first listen wont take long to. This album is what I call "Acid-Folk" at its very best, a huge array of instruments, creative sounds and very trip-worthy (except the Keith Christmas song, man such a parranoid song!)! This album has a few well enough known artists such as "Pentagle" and "Steeleye Span" as well as some of the best underground artists such as "Mellow Candle", "Water Into Wine Band" (if anyone has seen a Water into Wine Band album on here, if they could tell me, I'd be hugely appreciative!) and "Mr.Fox". Some songs you may not like, but most you are sure to love, so give the whole album a listen, and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

I've probably got most of the albums these tracks come from but I can't resist a good compilation and I'm sure there'll be more than a couple of tracks that make me go hunting for more. Certainly wonderful tracks from Mellow Candle and Mr Fox.
Thanks for the share.

Is it possible to mail you some new psychedlic folk from Sweden? . Please check out the new release from the Swedish psychedelic folk artist Laike that will be released on the 27th of February on the British label Les Cousins Music. Start with this song: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32993672/Bygger%20stegar%20upp%20till%20himmelen.mp3 and if you like it you can hear the whole album here and hopefully review it: http://laike.bandcamp.com/

"With a piano-led riff, bringing to mind the Canterbury sound, the final track “Tankefabriken” has a bright energetic groove that makes you smile before drifting into a deep forest drone without any warning, great stuff and an excellent way to round off a wonderful collection." - Terrascope

So immediately I went to check the album and the label and I discovered an amazing psych-folk album, that sounds like a modern Synesthesia, Trees, Dando Shaft, with touches of a more upbeat Espers vibe. John Martyn-like guitar picking, electric guitar, Sitar, Wurlitzer and other retro sounds creates a really beautiful production and songs. I can’t understand a word but who cares. This is a must have for people who miss the acid-folk revival of 2006 - Small Town Romance

"A very nice album, fitting with what can be heard in the (best examples of the) progressive scene in Sweden nowadays (so this band would work perfectly with such bands on stage in the live arena)." - Pshychevanhefolk
